My point is that I felt a little guilty getting so excited about being an elementary school teacher. It's only my first year of college and I hardly know what I want in life, much less what job I want to set my goal as. But I've been thinking about being an elementary school teacher for a few months now, and it seems to be one realistic choice I can make that I think will make me happy. If I were to put it into words, the qualities I look for in a job are: creativity, art, leading, accomplishment and satisfaction at the end of the day, and security. I think these all fit into being an elementary school teacher, and it makes me feel all giddy thinking about myself reading to children, doing art activities, teaching them math and science and history, and helping them grow into wonderful young adults. I have no idea if this will change but I've come back to this occupation a couple times when thinking about jobs, and I think it could work.
So what I'm planning to do is complete my American Studies major (at least that's what I plan for...), maybe minor in Music, get a multiple-subject Teaching Credential at the same time, and hopefully land myself a job. I think that's what I'd like to do, thus far.
